Education of the general public on the necessary and healthful need for mattress cleaning is still on the rise. When I first began googling "dust mite news" back in January of this year, the articles that popped up were either very old or concluded with "studies are underway". Now, fresh articles, studies and research are becoming available each month. Moreover, and lending credibilty to the need for mattress cleaning, are the number of mattress cleaning businesses (with websites and 'net presence) that have nearly quadrupled since January '06! The mattress cleaning "movement" appears to be spreading from the eastern U.S. to the west. I suspect this is influenced by Europeans and the easier access to our east coast as well as the continuing fast pace of globalization.
I also suspect the explosion of reported bed bug infestations mostly along the east coast. Bed bugs, once nearly "wiped-out", are hardy critters, easily travel in luggage, and are making a very big and "noisy" comeback since the use of DDT is no longer allowed and again, due to globalization. Inspections by professional mattress cleaning technicians (not hotel housekeepers) are needed to help thwart the comeback of bed bugs and resolve the situation before infestation occurs and the "blood is sucked out" of the hoteliers' customer loyalty program.
Adding even more credibilty to the growing need for mattress cleaning...is a new competitor offering mattress cleaning equipment, just as Hygienitech, AllerX, MiteeClean, Mitex, and Mattress Doctor, already do. The new entry is Inhomesanitizing.com and they are "low-balling" the aforementioned companies by selling their equipment for just $3,995. Of course, and I'm a little biased, but their offer does not compare to the SterilMattress offer, a realistic offer with additional revenue capabilities utilizing the separate UVC light, of $1,995.
Speaking of the UVC sterilization light reminds me of the past news accounts that have blasted all of us concerning spinach and e. coli...if only they had used UVC sterilization while packaging the product. The deaths of half a dozen people, the hundreds of illnesses would have been avoided and the millions of dollars worth of spinach would not have been destroyed!
