The mattress cleaning business is GROWING! The general
public is becoming more and more educated for the need of
the service thanks in part due to the coverage by national
news broadcasts (see links below). In January of 2006,
only 4 or 5 mattress cleaning businesses, in the U.S.,
could be found on the Internet. Now, one year later, the
number has increased to 30 or 40, maybe more. As the number
of mattress cleaning businesses continue to increase and as
these businesses continue to advertise in their local
areas, demand for mattress cleaning services will grow.

Here is more proof (and credibility) of the harmful effects
of dust mites and the attention that Dust Mite Allergens
(DMA's) receive in the medical and business society
continues to expand.

Schering-Plough to sell Danish anti-allergy drug
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=2766821

Jan 3, 2007 — COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - U.S. drug maker
Schering-Plough Corp. <SGP.N> will develop and sell
Denmark's ALK-Abello anti-allergy drug Grazax in North
America, the Danish company said on Wednesday.

Shares in the Danish company rose 7.1 percent to 1,550
crowns on the news.

The drug treats grass pollen, house dust mite and ragweed
allergies.

ALK-Abello soars on Schering-Plough deal
Danish vaccine manufacturer ALK-Abello A/S signs deal with
Schering-Plough to develop tablet-based allergy vaccines
January 3 2007: 10:04 AM EST
http://money.cnn.com/2007/01/03/news/international/update_alk.abello.dj/index.htm

An estimated 150 million people around the world suffer
from allergies but only 5% use vaccines, because the
treatment can require up to 100 shots by a doctor or nurse
over a three- to five-year period. ALK-Abello' s vaccine is
produced as a tablet which is absorbed under the tongue, in
an attempt by the company to broaden the market for allergy
vaccines.

The World Allergy Organization estimates that, worldwide,
$20 billion is spent a year because of allergies, including
medications, time-off work and doctor’s visits. Financial
analysts figure that between $10 billion and $12 billion is
spent annually to treat allergies, but only a small
fraction goes to allergy vaccines.

Bed Bugs continue (and reports will only escalate) to
capture attention of the newswires, the hospitality
industry, and the general public. Indoor Allergen Control
Specialists ( aka, Mattress Cleaning Technicians) are in
the prime position for locating and "heading off" bed bug
infestations, saving extremely high cost to the hospitality
industry and peace of mind for the general public.

Opera soprano sues in NYC court over Arizona hotel bedbug
bites
http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/ny-bc-ny--soprano-bedbugs0103jan03,0,4320989.story
By SAMUEL MAULL
Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK -- An opera singer has filed a $6 million lawsuit
against the Hilton Hotels Corp., complaining that bedbugs
bit her over her arms, chest, neck and face when she stayed
in one of its Phoenix hotels in November.

Soprano Alison Trainer says in court papers she had 150
bites all over her body, a "horrific" experience that left
her afraid to sleep in a bed, caused her to lose weight and
made her uncomfortable about her physical appearance.

"She noticed the itching and the blood on the sheets right
away, but she didn't know that this was being caused by
bedbugs," Glassman said, explaining why Trainer stayed in
the hotel for six nights.

Court papers say Trainer noticed the bugs on Nov. 26 and
reported "brutally conclusive proof" of the infestation to
hotel officials, who offered to let her stay without paying
for the sixth and final night.

Despite the bites on her face, Trainer, who has appeared
several times with the New York City Opera, the Phoenix
Symphony and other music companies around the nation, has
kept her singing commitments since the bedbug attack,
Glassman said.

A spokeswoman for the Hilton Hotels Corp. did not
immediately return a telephone call seeking comment
Wednesday.

Hilton's Web site says it is the leading global hospitality
company, with nearly 2,800 hotels and 485,000 rooms in more
than 80 countries.

The SterilMattress equipment is NOT just for Mattress
Cleaning. In year 2007, the EPA is making a conscious move
to educate the general public on the harmful effects of
Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and the need for Indoor Allergen
Control. Unlike our competitors, the SterilMattress
equipment is ideally suited to address these problems which
allows for ADDITIONAL revenue streams.

We Think of Outdoor Air Quality Most Often, but Indoor
Pollution is a Hazard, Too
By Nicole Tsong, Seattle Times
http://www.redorbit.com/news/science/791115/we_think_of_outdoor_air_quality_most_often_but_indoor/index.html?source=r_science#

Jan. 6--A truck spewing exhaust prompts many of us to hold
our breath when it passes by on the street. But when it
comes to pollution, your own home might be just as
insidious.

People spend 90 percent of their time indoors, and your
home can be two to five times as polluted as the air
outside, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
Poor indoor air quality can cause health problems like
asthma or sinus issues

Group Launches 'Asthma Friendly' Toy Certification
Sunday, November 26, 2006; 12:00 AM
http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=77727

SUNDAY, Nov. 26 (HealthDay News) -- The weekend after
Thanksgiving has traditionally signaled the start of the
Christmas shopping season, but as Santa Claus checks his
list of who's been naughty or nice, he may also have to
make special arrangements for children with allergies or
asthma.

Prevalence rates for both diseases have doubled in the past
20 years, and many common household items, including toys,
can trigger asthma and allergy attacks.

"Stuffed toys are notorious for carrying dust mites and
other substances that can be a major problem for children
who take plush toys everywhere they go, including to bed,"
Dr. Sheryl Lucas, a allergist in Washington, D.C., said in
a prepared statement.

To help Santa out, a new program to certify toys as "asthma
friendly" has been launched by the Asthma and Allergy
Foundation of America (AAFA). These toys have been
scientifically tested and proven to be better choices for
children with asthma and allergies.

Toys certified as "asthma friendly" also come with
instructions on how to keep them that way.

For example, certified plush toys instruct parents to place
the toy in the freezer for 24 hours and then in the washing
machine every four weeks in order to kill dust mites and
their eggs.

"Asthma friendly" toys are now available at a number of
major U.S. retailers. Certified pillows will be available
in December and other products -- including mattresses,
pillow protectors/encasements, vacuum cleaners, and
flooring -- will be considered for certification next year,
the AAFA said.

There seems to be a negative connotation (an unmentionable
disgust?) towards the idea of "mattress cleaning" in of,
and by, itself. For this reason (and to associate with the
EPA's 2007 campaign) I will begin to transition the
business concept by referring to "INDOOR ALLERGEN CONTROL",
"INDOOR ALLERGEN CONTROL SERVICES", "INDOOR AIR QUALITY
SPECIALISTS", etc., etc.

For those of you who have researched the ill-effects of
microbial allergens thriving in mattresses, you know the
number #1 source, inside a dwelling, are the allergens
found within a mattress.
